What’s wrong with MySpace?

No really, what’s the problem? It seems that the site is all but dead. Most of my friends seem to use Facebook almost exclusively. Their MySpace pages left as abandoned relics of a by-gone era, but I am not totally sure why. Did you all just get sick of people making obnoxious profiles that assaulted your ear drums with the atonal products of someone’s abysmal musical taste? Or is it just that Facebook is more “professional”? At any rate, I think there are at least a couple of things that MySpace was good for, like music, which are missing from Facebook, but oh well, time rolls on. Maybe the death of MySpace is a byproduct of the decline in the “coolness” of social networking sites in general. Once your parents added you and can see all the pictures of your drunken debauchery and can see that you hooked up with Sally so-and-so and that now she is going to “the clinic” the social networking party was over. Now there is nothing left but having to hit the ignore button on all those damn Farmville requests your friends keep sending you. I am sorry; I have real computer games to play.
PS. Employer, potential employers and college admissions boards are watching your FB page too.

Well, I think because of all the news that's out there in regards to cyberbullying and social networking sites, yes, it has lost it's edge. By Facebook or Twitter are not immune and you still have to block idiots from going into your site and etching out personal information..especially if they are associated with youtube or blogtv.

Yeah, MySpace needs to re-brand itself and/or specialize further into the Music / Scene branch. The only it can survive the social networking hell. And it is hell btw.

Maybe we will see counter generalized social networking trends.

Social clique network sites that work by invite only and so forth.

I almos don't use myspace, its pretty much dead, facebook is much more simple, myspace has too much design and no practicality :P

I've often wondered the same. Myspace is a bit more annoying to use because of the way people load their pages with a million videos, pictures, and autoplay music players. But aside from that it's really about the same feature wise. The only real difference seems to be implementation.

Also Facebook seems to have been getting tons of publicity on TV. So I think one of the draws is the huge userbase. I know so many people who have never had a myspace that have facebook.

The only way MySpace is still known is by teens. But still teenagers are moving more to Facebook. I agree with Terrentia, there is a social networking hell and Myspace is in it.

All social networking sites can lead to privacy issues.
